Capital of windsurfing and kiteboarding : Cabarete is dubbed the 'capital of windsurfing and kiteboarding' because of the ideal prevailing winds but wind do not blow too much on beach. A coral reef is located at the edge of the bay, where it is not unusual to see waves of 10-14 ft.
Windsurf & Kitesurf :There is an agreement between the windsurfing and kiteboarding schools that the latter will not teach and/or encourage kiting within the bay (except for Bozo Beach, on the western side of Cabarete Bay). This is because the main bay is usually too crowded with windsurfers on the water and people on the beach.
